| The Chicago Blackhawks locked up a couple of pieces on Friday, reportedly re-signing restricted free agents Jeremy Morin, Ben Smith and Antti Raanta. All three will be returning to the Hawks on two-year deals. Smith scored 14 goals and added 12 assists in 75 regular-season games with the Blackhawks in 2013-14. His deal is worth an average annual value of $1.5 million. Originally selected in the sixth round (169th overall) at the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Smith has scored 18 goals and 12 assists in 95 career games with Chicago. Raanta posted a 13-5-4 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .897 save percentage in 25 appearances with the Hawks in 2013-14 including a short run as the teams starter when Corey Crawford went down with a lower body injury. Originally signed as a free agent by the Blackhawks in 2013, Raanta just completed his rookie season with Chicago. Raantas deal is worth an average annual value of $750,000. Morin, 23, scored five goals and added six assists in 24 games with the Blackhawks in 2013-14. Originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the second round (45th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Morin was acquired by the Blackhawks as part of the trade that sent Dustin Byfuglien to the then-Thrashers. All-Pro Kuechly received 19 votes, ahead of Indianapolis All-Pro linebacker Mathis, who earned 11 1/2. Kuechly was credited with 96 tackles, four interceptions, two sacks, eight passes defenced, and was a presence from sideline to sideline on the NFLs No. 2 unit. A second-round pick (61st overall) from Alabama, Lacy was a key performer in the Packers offence, particularly when star quarterback Aaron Rodgers was sidelined for seven games. Kiko made a lot of tackles and Tyrann made a lot of plays down the field. Unfortunately he got hurt, but it was a tight race." Richardson joked about the possibility of winning both awards — he scored two touchdowns as a fullback in goal-line situations. "Eddie Lacy beat me out there," Richardson said. "He had a few more touchdowns than I did." Rivers led the Chargers to a wild-card playoff spot with four straight victories to close out the schedule, giving them a 9-7 record. He led the league with a 69.5 completion rate and threw for 32 TDs against 11 interceptions. He received 13 votes in balloting so widespread that 12 players got votes. He was not at the awards show at Radio City Music Hall. Chicago cornerback Charles Tillman won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, and accepted the honour with tears in his eyes.
